The district was informed of a positive case of COVID at the Randolph Elementary School late this morning. Contract tracing has been completed and all individuals considered close contacts have been notified and are in quarantine. The case impacted one fourth grade class who will be in quarantine through the middle of next week. The class will be transitioning to remote learning after the teacher has a day to prepare for that transition. No other programs or classes are affected.
The district opted to be a part of the State sponsored surveillance testing program in order to help identify asymptomatic individuals who may be contagious with COVID but don’t realize it because of their lack of symptoms. The testing program is working and informed the identification of today’s case. That said, only about 1/3 of students and faculty are taking advantage of this voluntary program in the OSSD; I urge those who are willing to sign up for this testing to increase our ability to keep the district’s students and staff safe; more information is below.
The Orange Southwest School District has opted to participate in a state funded program that provides weekly (Tuesday’s) COVID testing for students and staff at school. This is an opt-in program; only those who have opted-in by signing-up and consenting online can participate. To sign up, click on the Surveillance Testing link at the top of the page under 2021 Covid Operating Plan at the top of this page.
I urge staff and parents to opt into this program as the data generated from this testing will help guide mitigation decisions and will help identify asymptomatic individuals who would otherwise not know they should be in quarantine.
Vaccination Clinics at RUHS
The Vermont National Guard will run one more vaccination clinic from 9 am until 5 pm in the RUHS field house on October 3rd. This is a walk-in clinic open to anyone. More information on the State’s vaccine sites can be found at http://www.healthvermont.gov/ MyVaccine.
